If not a section on Cichlids, then perhaps they should improve the search function. A lot of times I'll search a given subject, and wind up with a hundred posts, and a lot of them aren't really what I was looking for. Sometimes, I want the search to be more advanced, since this forum has so many posts.

Of all the forums I go to this one has the least amount of categories. It doesn't bother me either way, upside to having more specific categories is when someone is trying to find specific information on a specific type of fish or set up, or product.

I feel the need of NO MORE CATEGORIES. It's just that bettas are just a tiny group of fish. Cichlids, making a huge percentage, isn't still necessary for a section all to themselves.

there should be a breeder forum but i do like the ponds and invertebrates idea.

I think a Cichlid section would be great, and would possibly add interest to this site! Cichlids are a very popular type of fish, and I've found many people attracted to that side of the hobby. Considering the sheer numbers of different types of cichlids, their interesting parenting, and all that, that it would be great. I've had to search through the internet for info. on my new cichlids, when I'd much rather just start a new topic here, and be done with it. Thanks!

I'm glad you're adding sections but, PLEASE, do add something on eels, specifically Peacock Eels.

Also, I've been told that Peacock Eels are not true eels. In any case, these scaleless fish are popular now and I can't find much info on them.

Please help those of us who are interested in such scaleless fish.

I agree a pond and invertebrates section would be a good addition, as far as individual fish section those three IMO, don't warrant much discussion. But I'm a salty.

There is already a search function...it just isn't very obvious. It is in gray just below the advertising banner on the right side of the screen.

Also Goldfish and koi could be added to pond section. So we could have 3 sections in ponds; Ponds and water features, Pond critters(goldfish, koi, frogs, and etc.), Pond gardening and plants. Also Pond emergencies.

But most of all a forum search would be the greatest help of all. There is so much information lost deep in the forums.

I think adding the pond sections, would be great. Species specific sections would not be as helpful as being able to search the forums for information.

There will always be someone with a favorite fish, the ability the search the forum will mean less clutter. I have noticed the same questions asked over time and the size of the forum expands and information is harder to find.

As far as the salt water side goes, I don't necessarily see what you would post in an "Invertebrate" section that you wouldn't post in the "Reef" section. The reef section really doesn't get much use as it is now.

I don't really see a need for a Cichlid section or any species specific section for that matter. I personally don't think this site generates enough posts to warrant that many categories.

Splitting into more specific sections would make it easier to search for info in previous posts (assuming people do that). Cichlid info makes up a good, healthy chunk of the freshwater section. One forum for cichlids specifically makes it easier to find info on them in particular, and easier to keep all that info in one place.

I don't think it's worth for the other suggested sections though. I don't think there are enough people asking enough *different* questions/discussions on either bettas or goldfish on this forum to warrant splitting into a separate section.

I don't mind either way, but that's my thought process.:)

The cichlids certainly do generate enough to be their own section. Bettas probably do too. As much as I love the idea of a goldfish section, I don't know if there's enough discussion about them to be their own section.

Personally I'd skip the specific fish sections (it's just easier IMO to read and respond to posts in as few sections as possible, and these fit fine in the general freshwater section), but I love the idea of pond and invertebrates sections.

We're getting close to having the new forum setup done and we just wanted to check with all of you about what we're planning and get some final input.

In freshwater, we will be adding a ponds and invertebrate section, and in saltwater we will be adding an invertebrate section.

We are also thinking about adding some fish specific sections in freshwater and would like to know what you think. The specific sections you have mentioned were: Bettas, Goldfish and Cichlids.

Do you think we should add these sections? Should we add only some of these?
