What is the total wattage of your light? Also, do you have hard or soft water?

Um, try either Java Fern or Java Moss. They really don't need to root themselves. Just use fishing line to tie them onto bogwood, rocks, or root them in the gravel (but that's pretty hard to do.).
I'm not completely sure of Java Moss but both species barely need anything added or constantly checked.
1 ppm of phosphate, and 10 ppm of nitrate will be enough. If your fish are being well fed and creating not too much waste, those requirements can be met easily.
Other hardy species can be in the genus Anubias.
Just in case, your water quality can be also a reason why.
What plants have you kept?
pH, nitrate, nitrite, ammonia readings?
Fish? How much do you feed them?
Add salt? (you shouldn't be AT ALL)

Favorite fish: Denison Barb, Balloon Molly, Panda Cory, Koi Swordtail, Cherry Barb, Otocinclus, Honey Gourami, too many to name :P. These are just my most favorite. AFLAC It sounds funny

i have hard water and the lights are just what came with the set, im not sure the wattage, one of the plants i think wasnt an actual aquatic plant, so thats probly why that one died but the other one was, although I cant remember what it was.
