I would say that you can be safe in assuming you have at least another 3 years or more before she passes. I have had my 2 severums for about 8 months, so hopefully, I will have them for another 15 years.

RE: how long do severums live

yeah its wonderful huh my baby Jonas is just about 5 inch.

RE: how long do severums live

WOW! looks like ill have my severum for a long time... its only a baby (3 inches long)

RE: how long do severums live

From what I was able to find it is 10 to 18 years. I am going to agree with Dave that it is to late for her to breed.

RE: how long do severums live

she is in great shape and still as beautiful as ever..she is going to be missed something awful when she goes...thanx for the input

RE: how long do severums live

Hm...as long as she is still in good physical condition, not losing weight and still showing good color and activity, it is likely she can still produce viable eggs. But, she may not be as capable of handling the rigors of courtship and caring for young.

So it's possible, but I wouldn't put a severum her age into the situation. Breeding is a big stress, and it might make her more prone to illness. I'd just keep her healthy and happy and enjoy the bragging rights that come along with a 13-year-old severum. ;)

RE: how long do severums live

That's impressive. I don't know for sure, but I would think your fish is probably too old to breed. Anyone out there had a severum longer than this??

how long do severums live

ive had my severum for 13 years now, and i was wondering how old this lovely fish can get....and is it too late to breed her.
