Ive seen them in my LFS. Its not even an an LFS actually, its just a really big petstore that has a huge saltwater fish section. if theyre available in regular petstores id say theyre not too hard to find. Plus, if your LFS doesnt have any next time you go there, you could ask them to order one or pick one up next time they get a shipment of livestock.

RE: Yellow Tang

Yea i guess. Are the Kole tang very avalible or are you only able to get them over the internet?

RE: Yellow Tang

Id just go with the kole tang. its beautiful and relatively small for a tang. plus if you get a yellow tang youd probably miss it a lot after you gave it away. and it will probably be way too big for your tank when you just start thinking about getting rid of it. last it would be really unhappy since it wouldnt have enough space

RE: Yellow Tang

Ya the Kole Tang is a nice looking fish. Im just still so attached to the thought of haveng a yellow tang. I was in petco today and they had 3 yellow tangs. They were really small i would say about 3 inches. I know they would eventually out grow my 55g but i could always trade, or give them away to my local fish store when they get to big.

RE: Yellow Tang

Yeah the kole tang is definitely one of the easiest tangs to keep. It would be my first choice on that list too and i would have one if my tank wasnt already fully stocked, but then again, maybe 1 more fish would fit in there...:D

RE: Yellow Tang

Out of those I would probably chose the Kole Tang. Thanks for the replies guys.

                    ><>

          ..v.V.S...S..V.V...s.S..s..VW

Got a little creative

RE: Yellow Tang

The Kole Tang is a great fish. Easy to keep and doesn't really get too large. The others (especially the powder blue) are highly prone to ich and most are very expensive!!. If you haven't yet had to battle a bout of ich, consider yourself lucky.

I personally wouldn't keep a tang of any sort in a 55g.

RE: Yellow Tang

Yeah none of those tangs that have that body & fin shape (sailfins, yellows, scopas, purples) are small enough for your tank. The smallest tank a yellow tang should be in is probably a 75. If you like tangs in general, try one of these :

Kole yellow eye tang- up to 7 in.

Bristletooth tomini tang- up to 6 in.

Two spot bristletooth tang- up to 8 in.

powder blue tang- up to 9 in.

Powder brown tang- up to 8 in.

White cheek tang- up to 8 in.

Yellow Tang

Im sure some of you have read the post I put up about if a Sailfin Tang would be to big to keep in my 55g soon to be reef tank. Well I got my answer, that a Sailfin Tang would indeed be to big for my 55g. This post is to get everyones opinions on if I could keep a yellow Tang in my 55g soon to be reef tank. Ive read up on this and the answers varied. Some said the minimum tank size should be 50gal and other sources said the minimum should be 100gals. I just want to hear if you guys think a yellow tang would fit and be content in my 55g soon to be reef tank.
