So fish has to be quarantine for a few weeks, but how long should inverts be quarantine for before they are moved over to the main tank? I cant seem to find any info on this. I'm gonna start stocking my tank in a few weeks or so and I'd like to make sure I know what I'm doing before I do so.

I quarantine everything for 6 weeks, if they have acted normal and fed normally and otherwise don't show any signs of illness I move them over to the main tank.

The only time I didn't quarantine was the first group of inverts as they all came from the same tank at the store and my tank didn't have anything in it yet.

6 weeks sound a lot like for fish, but wouldn't soft coral die with out proper lighting and a good water movement in such a long period of time with out it?

So how long do you quarantine the invert and did you have a full set of lighting for them? My QT is only 10gal, I have all that I need to set it up but I'm not sure if I'll need lighting for the corals or not.:(

Mine is 10 gallon too, I have T5 lighting on it however and I have power heads for water movement when needed.

Its basically a nano-tank minus the live rock and sand.

I very seldom quarantine my corals. I used to use either freshwater or iodine dips. My dip of choice now is Pro-Coral but I've heard good things about Tech-D and Reef Dip too. SPS corals still get a freshwater dip to help gaurd against flat worms.

Fish get at least 2 weeks. :)

So many species, so little money!
