I prefer glass for anything under 75 gallons just because of cost, anything over acrylic since they tend to be lighter.

If cost was no object I'd go with acrylic, I like the look of them better, as well as most major manufactures have a lifetime guarantee on leaks.

I have only glass ones but I thought that acrylics scratched more easily? Maybe only the ones I've seen.

They do but most scratches are caused by improper care by the owner by using items to clean it meant for glass.

Also scratches can be buffed out of acrylic where on glass they are generally permanent.

Very difficult to clean coraline algae off of acrylic without scratching it. Leave the acrylic to freshwater!!! :)

So many species, so little money!

Would those new magnet cleaners for acrylic be good for not scratching? I don't know if I would take the chance on an acrylic tank I would really be afraid of scratching and that dull scratched look acrylic seems to get..What would you clean the outside with? I would like to hear from some acrylic tank owners and their opinions...:D

Micro Fiber cloths work best when I had acrylics tanks (they make them to clean fragile things like DVD's and the like.)

I personally never trusted the commercial items that say acrylic safe, many just seem too abrasive.
