What do you all do when you have no power?
As for hour or day.what is there that out there to use?
I have reefs 75 and 120.
58 gal freshwater planted ,75 & 120 saltwater tanks with refuges and 2000 gal pond.

I am sorry no one took the time to answer.
So I found on the web so I hope it will help others. I got a computer battery backup and plugged in the sump pumps to them. It works great it ran I know for 3 hours because the power went off. For longer time as 12 or 24 hours I am hooking up a marine deep cycle boat 12 battery to it. I saw it on the web and he had is running for 24 hours. if you have but you need to know there it a limit. I only had the mag 3 and 5 pumps for the sumps running no heaters,lights,power heads that as I read uses the battery in no time. For that you need a generator.Or you can only hookup a small air pump to it and that will run along time or add more batteries together for the size pump you have to run longer.
I hope this help all out there there are things to help us not lose your tanks.
For a few dollars it will save thousands of dollars.

Unfortunately there aren't really any saltwater experts here (a couple from other forums stop by very occasionally). We just have a bunch of beginners who are learning themselves (including myself). Sorry no one could help.

As you said we are all learning everyday something no matter how long or short we have been in the hobby.

| I have a gas powered generater for my larger tanks (Yes I hook up more then 1) I also have 4 trash can buckets full of R/O water. I make it a couple days before a storm hits (speacly Hurricain Season). If the storm looks REALLY t a bad I have 3 pals that work at other "LFS" and I rent a tank or tanks off of them in the "Safe" a zone and put up my harder to find or long cared for friends. If its only for an hr or 2 I never worry. Im a "just" incase person lol. As for the SW person I'd never say im an expert but Im not novice.

| I do things a little cheaper then most of the people who responded, it works great though!! What i did was get 4 battery powered air stones and 4 space blankets! I read an article once and it said the most important things are water movement and the temp so i took care of both of those and my tank does great in every power outage!!!! When the power goes out i just toss the air stones in there and throw the space blankets over and around my tank. I have never lost anything due to a power outage!!!! hope that helps!!!
