Is this safe or unsafe to put in a freshwater planted tank...? I got it from the pet store where I work but nobody seems to know anything about it...I did the vinegar test and it didn't fizz...but I just want to make sure.
thanks!

It surprises me that it didn't fizz, as it looks to me loike a piece of salt water "base rock". What is the pH of your tank, and what fish do you want to keep? I don't think it will make an difference to the plants, but it may to the fish.

It could also be a type of lava rock.

Hey David...
Just those Celestial Pearl Danios...I want to make a cool nano planted tank with just them in it. I thought about just putting it in a bucket with a neutral ph and watching it to see if it changes over a week or so...

Yes -- if you want to be sure, do just that -- set it in a bucket of water, take a pH reading, wait a week and take another one.
