I have seen many fish dead and sometimes they are my favorite. I really don't know if it is sad or not.

| Slightly old topic, but...took my 14year old stepdaughter to a LFS, and they had just received fish. I guess the shipment overheated, and a bunch of fish were dead and dying. She was just freaking, and it took quite a while to calm her down. I told her there was nothing anyone could do, and that it was very sad, but that occasionally happens during shipping. I guess the moral of this story is don't show up on shipping days...especially not with a sensitive kid.

| it is sad to see fishies dead in a any tank wheather its in a home tank or store tank...;_; it is normal for some if not halof a shipment to die dew to the shock of transporting them from place to place or improper shipping conditions...like what ladybarbara001 said, the fish were probably overheated in the delivery truck and/or plane! i work at a petshop and have so for almost 2 years now and it still isnt easy to see dead fish floating in our tanks!! we try to remove them as much as possible but it dosent always happen that way.
 RIP Bruce!! We'll miss you!!

Wow, that's a lot of loss in shipping.
Go against the flow...

My male betta was a real jem. He was very active and would even follow me around watching me work in the kitchen. Had him 6 mo. and one day I fed him before going outside. About 30 min. later I came in and he was gone out of his large bowl. Took me 15 min. to find him in my plants nearby. Poor guy got so happy I guess he jumped out. I later read that sometimes they do that so it's best to cover bowl with cheesecloth. I almost cried, wished I'd been nearby when he got frisky. Couldn't bring myself to replace him for almost half a year.
Go against the flow...

Well, at least some stores try to protect against dead fish in their tanks...
