I am preparing a 100 gal. aquarium that I acquired from a friend some time ago. However, the old tank has a number of stains from former use that I'd like to clean before I begin to use the tank. I know I should not use soap and water.  However, is water (only) the only solution?  Are there any suggestions for other combinations to use with water that won't harm the tank for aquarium use?  Do you recommend any other cleaning approaches for an acquired tank?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Thanks,

PinchofSalt

I use one of two methods, one is a paste of salt and water,or some vinegar and water, then lots of rinsing.:w00t:
